2012 bore witness to the inaugural Spokes Festival; a celebration of all things cycling!

This years ride once again incorporated the infamous Australian National Road Championship Course at Mt Buninyong, providing cyclists across all levels the opportunity to pit themselves against the same course undertaken by 2011 Tour de France champion Cadel Evans.

The event was a huge success with over 1,200 registered riders and, although the weather was not kind to us once again, those involved went home with smiles on their faces.

In 2012 the Ballarat Spokes Cycle Classic entered its fifth year. On the back of the tremendous success of last years event, we expanded to a weekend festival to include MTB endurance and Madison cycling events which will made up the inaugural 'Spokes Festival'. Once again the weather played it's part but both events enjoyed a successful first year with each raising $6,000 for the BCRC in the process.

The 2012 event was the most successful in the history of the Ballarat Cycle Classic! Under the new guise of the Ballarat Spokes Festival, the weekend raised upwards of $185,000 for the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre. The BCRC are extremely grateful for all those involved and hope to see you all again in 2013!

The 2012 Ballarat Spokes Cycle Classic has been completed. Stay tuned for news regarding next year's event in the coming months.

Our 2012 ambassador was once again paralympian, Michael Milton with Danny Frawley joining him as our event patron.
